Food/Diet bout black and white dog breeds

It’s a very controversial topic and it seems to start this year. There has been a lot of argument about what dogs should eat, raw or kibble/canned food. This article will provide the truth behind each type of food and diet nutrition. I’ve also included some pros and cons to help guide you in your quest for the best dog food/diet available on the market. I hope it’s beneficial to anyone who reads this informative article.

Stages of Nutrition

From puppy to senior puppy. From first weaning at 3 weeks until roughly 12 Months old. Puppies require lots of protein as they are growing rapidly during this period. However, this protein should not be in the form of an unbalanced diet. The required levels of calcium and phosphorus are also high for this age group, therefore it is necessary to supplement their diet with small amounts of vitamin D3. Vitamin E is essential in ensuring that nerve tissues develop properly. Puppies need large amounts of high-quality protein in order to grow rapidly – which means they require highly digestible food. It can contain up to 65% protein, but there must be low levels of calcium since excessive early bone growth will limit later growth. Good examples include turkey/chicken or meat meals (fish meal, chicken meal, lamb meal).

Dachshunds have a rapid growth rate between 3 – 12 months so its very important to include the best nutrients. Regularly feed small meals and make sure to provide water at all times!.

The next stage of a dog’s life is that of a juvenile and then adult (1 year – 7 years), and it is during this time that we recommend feeding an adult maintenance food, which does not contain any growth promoting ingredients. A correct balanced diet for this group contains 15 – 18% protein. Vitamins can be supplied as supplements if required. In some breeds, such as Dachshunds, they may have a low calcium requirement, but those with high energy requirements or those being bred will require supplementation of calcium from 7 months until the end of their lives.

In most cases it is best to stick with the kibble (dry) food. Dry foods are recommended because they contain less fat than canned.

Adult Maintenance Food: ( 1 year – 7 years)

This type of food provides all essential nutrients for your dog throughout its adult life but does not contain any growth-promoting ingredients, which means that feeding levels must be carefully controlled so that body weight remains normal. The protein content should be about 15% – 18%, fat 10% – 16%. There are many brands available in supermarkets and pet stores however you should always look at the nutrient analysis on the side of each bag of food.

Giant, large breeds require adequate levels of calcium in their diet to remain healthy and active. As they get older, the level of protein in their diets should be reduced slightly towards 15% – 18%, but never below 12%. Growing puppies can also benefit from a couple of extra cups of high-quality dog food per day while they are growing rapidly between 6 months to 1 year old.

Senior Dog Food : ( 7 years +)

There are 3 main changes that occur during your dog’s senior years: Firstly, there is a reduction in energy expenditure which means that dietary fat must make up 20% – 25% on energy or roughly 10%-15%. Secondly, protein requirements decrease to 10% – 12% and calcium levels remain constant at 1.5% – 2%. Finally, there is a reduction in some of the nutrient content of your dog’s food. For example, vitamin E requirements decrease by approximately 50% and B-vitamin requirements also reduce.

Dog Food Ingredients

Protein Proteins from animal sources are regarded as being superior to plant proteins because they have a complete amino acid profile meat has all 9 essential amino acids whereas soybeans only have 8 of them so its not considered to be complete. Dogs cannot synthesise 9 essential amino acids themselves so this must come from food or supplements which contain these amino acids. Protein provides dogs with energy . Animal proteins provide a greater amount of energy than plant proteins. The quality of the protein depends on its source and digestibility.

Dogs can digest animal proteins more efficiently than they can digest plant proteins, so we recommend that you choose a dog food with a high level of animal-based proteins.

Fat is an important energy source for dogs and fatty acids play an essential role in maintaining healthy skin and fur as well as the health and condition of many body systems including: brain function, aerobic respiration (oxygen transport), reproduction, growth and development. Protein provides dogs with energy . Animal proteins provide a greater amount of energy than plant proteins. The quality of the protein depends on its source and digestibility. Your pet’s dietary fat intake should be both adequate and of good quality.

Carbohydrates Carbohydrates are a major source of energy for dogs and can be found in a number of forms: Cereals rice, oats, barley, wheat middling s or brewers grains Biscuits or bread materials Potato waste Soya/bean hulls Gluten feed by-products Fruit & vegetable peelings Sugar beet pulp Fish meal In addition to being an excellent source of energy, carbohydrate foods often supply vitamins and minerals useful in the maintenance of good health.

Black and white dog breeds pros and cons

There are a variety of color options when it comes to the purebred Great Dane and these colors can be broken down into two major categories: merle or solid. Each color has its own unique properties, which pet owners should consider before making their final color decision.

Merle Great Danes have a coat that includes a range of varying shades of gray, blue, brown, red, or a combination thereof and solid-colored Great Danes have a more uniform appearance throughout and they can come in black, black and white, blue, fawn or harlequin (white with black patches).

The following is a list of pros and cons that can be associated with each color option.

  • Merles are not genetically prone to deafness like some other dog breeds
  • Potentially produce black pigmented whelps
  • Have more health problems than the average canine, including epidermal dysplasia, corneal ulcers, and hemophilia
  • Generally cost less than solid black Great Danes
